DragonSword: Awakening Status Ailments

Status effects are the bridge between individual characters and team strategy. Instead of asking only who deals the most damage, ask which status the team can apply, maintain, and convert into a winning fight plan.

Status Quick Table

Bleed

Best understood as repeat pressure. Build around application consistency and follow-up damage.

Stun

Creates safer punish windows. Good for players who need control and cleaner execution.

Airborne

Turns launch timing into juggle damage. Works only when the team can use the window.

Shock

Supports pressure and timing-based play. Best when paired with quick follow-up value.

Stagger

Helps control dangerous targets and armor pressure. Stronger in fights where pacing matters.

How to read status value

Apply

Can the team trigger the status often enough?

Hold

Can the team keep pressure without breaking its rotation?

Convert

Does another character benefit from the window?

Recover

Can the team survive when the window ends?

Team shells

Status decides team shape

Bleed / Stun Shell

Use a status applier, a follow-up damage slot, and a comfort or connector slot. Theresia-centered shells are useful examples for this kind of planning.

Airborne Shell

Use a launcher, a juggle extender, and a finisher. Reina-style teams need clean launch timing more than random damage stacking.

Stagger / Control Shell

Use armor pressure, safety, and steady conversion. Ornette / Castella / Alex-style planning is about fight control, not only speed.

FAQ

Status questions

Should I build around one status?

Usually yes. A focused status plan is easier to gear, easier to pilot, and easier to replace by role.

Can I mix statuses?

You can, but only when the team still has a clear conversion plan. Too many partial ideas can make a lineup weaker.

Which status is best?

There is no universal answer. Bleed, stun, airborne, shock, and stagger solve different fight problems.
