Combat system
Combat is easiest to understand as a loop: pick a role, create pressure, trigger a window, swap or follow up, then rebuild uptime for the next cycle. This guide gives the site a shared vocabulary for builds, teams, and tier placements.
Core loop
The strongest pages on the wiki should connect character kits to fight flow. A character is valuable when they solve a real combat problem: damage, safety, control, setup, or conversion.
Use control, positioning, or status pressure to make the enemy easier to punish. Setup characters are judged by reliability, not only personal damage.
A window is the short period where the team can deal safer or stronger damage: stun, airborne, stagger, armor break, or another vulnerability state.
Conversion means turning that window into damage, healing, or tempo. A team with setup but no conversion often feels weaker than its character names suggest.
Roles
| Role | What it does | How to build around it |
|---|---|---|
| Main damage | Converts openings into clear speed or boss pressure. | Use damage gear, window uptime, and support that keeps the carry active. |
| Status setup | Applies bleed, stun, airborne, shock, stagger, or other pressure tools. | Prioritize reliability, trigger frequency, and teammates who benefit from the status. |
| Control / safety | Slows enemy pressure and makes fights easier to execute. | Build for uptime, comfort, and recovery instead of pure burst. |
| Flex support | Fills the missing job in a team: sustain, utility, secondary damage, or replacement value. | Choose the flex slot after the team goal is clear. |
